My husband and I were watching TV last night and a commercial caught our attention.
Sometimes advertising tugs my heart strings but more often than not, I don’t always know what they are selling. I’m sure that is because of my lack of attention.
But this commercial featured a man meeting with friends, listening to music, walking through a park. Again – not sure what the pitch was and, of course, it matters not to my story.
Tim and I began discussing what the gentleman was wearing. And we were not kind.
Thankfully, it did not take long for Holy Spirit to do His thing.
Gee, Holy Spirit…convict much?!?
Yes – and I am so grateful for it. Conviction – not condemnation.
Will this actor ever know we made fun of his clothing? Probably not.
But it still matters. It matters to God who created both me and this gentleman.
As believers, we are called to be holy. To be in this world and not of it. To reflect Christ at all times and in all situations.
I want to use words to build up others. I want to be someone who spills out Jesus on others. This was definitely not what I was doing last night.
I am grateful for forgiveness.
Philippians 4:8 (NIV) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.
And say them too. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut!
